Collections- How to do them the easiest way!

I am very happy how rb sorted out setting up our new looks. For those who are not really pc savvy, I would like to show the easiest steps to showcase your works.

First of all, get accustomed with the new layout.

♦ Right bellow your avatar you’ll see the
OVERVIEW
PORTFOLIO
JOURNAL
FAVORITES
WATCHLIST

♦To set up your Collections I would recommend to follow these steps. You will find easy, amusing, funny and rewarding

First of all, you have to know your own gallery. What kind of works do you have. Take a piece of paper and makes some columns

  • Painter*
    What do you paint?
Mainly, naming/creating the collections is like using tags in describing the works
    eg:
    Figurative
    Colorful
    Still Life
    Waterscape
    Abstracts
    Surreal
    Cubism
    Close Ups
    Landscape
    Waterscape, etc
You can go by any category. The limit is the blue sky (and of course your number of works, style, etc)
  • Photographers*
    eg:
    Black & White
    HDR – landscape
    HDR – sunset
    HDR – composite
    Street Photography
    Portraits
    Flowers
    Wildlife
    Grunge
    Textured
Featured (you can add one of these too)
Again, use your imagination to name your collection
*Fractal artists can name collections after the type of comoposition the software used makes; or anyithig which can select the works in distinctive cathegories

Assuming you have in writing all the categories, we are going to proceed to the next step.

THE IMAGE BELLOW SHOWS MY CATEGORIES/COLLECTIONS. KEEP THE WORDING SHORT, OTHERWISE IT WILL COVER THE WHOLE AVATAR IMAGE

STEP 2

• Go to Portfolio
• Click on NEW COLLECTION
- from your list start adding new collection till you are done. You can create as many as you wish

STEP 3

From Portfolio, page one, start dragging images in the named collections.
DRAG THE IMAGE TO THE LEFT, ABOVE THE WRITEN NAME OF THE COLLECTION; DROP IT WHEN THE RED ARROS SHOWS (as seen in the image bellow)
DO NOT TRY TO DROP THEM IN THE COLLECTION BOX- IT DOESN’T WORK.
REMEMBER – YOU CAN ADD SAME IMAGE TO DIFFERENT COLLECTIONS

Let’s say you painted a Church – this can go into a Cityscape, Landscape, Architecture, Spiritual, or whatever other Collection you named.

IF YOU HAVE MANY COLLECTIONS, WHILE DRAGGING, ONE CAN USE +PAGE UP/DOWN TO EASIER MOVE ON THE PAGE. For this procedure, you will need both your hands

Take your time and do it slowly. At a certain moment you’ll feel dizzy. Too many images, and too many names. On long run it will pay off. Think twice before and after dragging an image, because you want ALL your works to be under a certain category.

♣ You are done with the dragging, all works are in one or more collection.
GO TO OVERVIEW, and see how your page looks.
Do you like the cover images? If NOT you can change them

Changing Cover Images

From Overview, click on the image. A window will pop up. Select the work you would like to show. Save changes.

♦*PROMOTING A CERTAIN COLLECTION*

On the right corner of each Collection you will see a red arrow. Click on it, and will it will show the first 6 images of that certain collection.
One can change at any time to another collection

Finally, those who have calendars, can make a Calendar Collections.

♦ You are half way done. At this point I would recommend everyone to start going over each collection and rearrange the images. Make your collection look appealing, not overcrowded.
CHANGING POSITIONS OF COLLECTIONS
- From Portfolio, click the red arrow (as shown in 1st image above), and drag it up or down.

If anybody needs help, please let me know.

You can view how I did mine by visiting my Profile

Marys Collections

♦*CHANGING/RENAMING COLLECTIONS*

-Go to Portflio
- Click on the collection
On the top – where the title of collection is, you will see the Edit button (in red). Click on it – write in the new title
♦ On the next line you have an Edit button for description. Here you can enter a description of the Collection. It won’t show on the Main Page.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

One Collection can hold up to 100 images. Consequently, if you have a larger gallery, you can select the best works and place them in a collection as they would be in the Gallery. Now you are able to move around the images, and organize them as you wish.
This is kind of cheating the system, but I like it.
My Overview Collection shows how I did mine

♦*VISITING ARTISTS GALLERIES
On the Right Top Corner now you have a chance to click on LIKE. It won’t show who voted, but it is nice to offer a small token of support & appreciation to a fellow artist*
