SEASON OF GIVING & SHEARING

Dear Members

For the upcoming holidays I came up with an idea which I hope many of you will find doable, and support..

We are all coming from different cultures and religions, also I know that whether Hindi, Catholic, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Orthodox, or any other religion, at the end of the year we all have a holiday we are celebrating. This is why, I am calling this project December – the Season of Giving and Shearing
Soon, the air will be filled with the spirit of all these wonderful holidays, and we all can make a difference by shearing love and gifts.

RedBubble is a wonderful community, where artists meet, get to know each other, offering unconditional support to fellow artists. I am quite sure that many friendships, personal relationships, as well marriages (at least I know about o…

HOSTS, PLEASE LIST YOUR RULES PROPERLY

One of my recent work has been rejected by a greeting card group on the reason that has white edges.

Later, after some bbmail exchanges I came to find out that the white edges refere to the edges left on the greeting card itself.

I am wondering how a work’s size meets the greeting card’s size.
If groups have such a requirement, will be oportune to list it in the Group’s Rules, thus avoiding any missunderstanding and eventual conflicts.

I do not see anyone changing the original size of a work, just to perfectily fit, edge to edge, a greeting card. Besides, personally I have no clue of that size, nor I care, because I will definetivelly won’t alter any of my original works.

This exhibition is based on a workshop, in which I participated, where member artists translated member photographers’ images to traditional art medium.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on August 31st, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: digital art, photography, and traditional art.

Deadvlei
by Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos

Facts from Deadvlei

Deadvlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Also written DeadVlei or Dead Vlei, its name means “dead marsh” (from English dead, and Afrikaans vlei, a lake or marsh in a valley between the dunes).

Dead Vlei is surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world, the highest reaching 300-400 meters (350m on average, named “Big Daddy” or “Crazy Dune”), which rest on a sandstone terrace. The clay pan was formed after rainfall, when the Tsauchab river flooded, creating temporary shallow pools where the abundance of water allowed…

I Am Living Groups

After more than one year being on rb, it just occured to me that belonging to some groups actually creates more hassle then good. Why is that?
The reality is that we are all here to showcase and promote our works. As an emerging artist, I like to have my works acknowledged as well. After being in some groups for more than one year, I came to realize that my works have never been featured. I believe it is time to move on, and part. I know, no one will cry for me or for my works; moreover, some will be even happy not seeing my works.
What gives me pleasure is the fact that my works are diverse. If they do not fit, they are different, right?
This gives me the hope that some day, I will make it as an artist.

Actually I left already planty of groups, and I removed my last works from almost…
