1973
My cousin Andrea from the Netherlands brought letters that my father had sent to his sister over 30 years ago. My father passed 11 years ago and these letters were such a treat to read as I rediscovered what a great man he was, his wisdom, sense of humor and commitment to his family was admirable.

What a wonderful gift! And so strikingly portrayed in your photo…..I wanted to know the tales contained within all those envelopes. Whenever people tell me I spend too much time with my pen in hand, I tell them, one day you may be glad I put our lives down in ink….....at least, I hope so! Thanks for sharing this.

My father spoke of inflation in 1973! He complained how gas prices were .60 cents/gallon in 1972 and how it has doubled in one year! So relative to what we are experiencing in this day! He was a great man…I admire his endurance…his plight here immigrating to America and the financial struggles he endured…yet in the end he made a great life for us…sent both daughters to college and taught us many life lessons! He was a quiet man, though in these letters he was so hilarious…comical…gave good advice…practical..and brutally honest about life! He always ended each letter with “Keep the Lion’s Share of it!” I have never heard him say that in my life….thanks for the compliments..so encouraging! Sincerely, Mar-
