Artist's Description

901 viewings on 30 July, 2016.

This statue depicts the guard dogs that patrolled Eaglehowk Neck, a narrow strip of land which separates the Tasman Peninsula from the mainland of Tasmania.
Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula was a penal settlement in the early days of Australia and some convicts tried to escape only to be met by these savage dogs.
