Mt Coonowrin, commonly known as “Crookneck” is in the Glasshouse Mountains National Park, Queensland, Australia. The glasshouse mountains are lava cores and were named by Captain James Cook because he felt they reminded him of glasshouses in England.

Mt Coonowrin is 377 metres high.

Featured in “In and Around Noosa” group.

Taken with my LUMIX DMC-TZ3

I am a keen amateur photographer (progressing from a Brownie Box to digital) who loves to combine travel and photography. I have travelled extensively in Australia and New Zealand with other trips to parts of UK & Europe, USA, Africa, Scandinavia and Canada. My photography reflects my interest in culture, scenery and wildlife relating to these travels.

Great shot, I haven’t seen it from that place, where you can see the water.

  • Hi Marilyn, thank you for your comment. The photo was taken on the road to Mt Beerwah.

This looks beautiful, really makes me feel (even more) to visit Australia

  • Hi Paulo, Thank you for your comment. Australia certainly has beautiful and varied scenery, but we don’t have the “history” like the European countries. We also give a warm welcome to all visitors :))))

You have been chasing the mountains ? Another great shot

  • Hi Kala, Thank you for your comment – much appreciated. Haven’t been chasing mountains lately. Some of my shots are “from the archives”
