Artist's Description

1458 viewings on 3 July, 2016.

A church has stood in this place since the 13th century, but the existing twin-towered Cathedral is from the early 18th century. Inside it is a baroque palace of pink marble, white stucco and gilt with frescoes by barogue master Guilio Quaglio and 18th century artist Matevz Langus.

Two bronze doors were added in 1996 to commemorate Pope John Paul 11’s visit – the main one symbolises 1250 years of Christianity in Slovenia.

This is the south door of the Cathedral with the bishops depicting the history of the Ljubljana diocese.
