Back to The Boneyard and the same dumpster as ‘Flaming Red’. I love the peeling paint and the range of colors. It looks very much like an abstract painting to me. Taken at very close range – I cannot remember how close I was on this one, but it was less than 5 inches. Nikon D90, tripod, 60mm Nikon macro, ISO 400, f/13, 1/100 sec. Gotta love this waste management plant!!!

I love macro abstract work of rejected and neglected items in our society, especially rusty old dumpsters (skips) around the back of buildings, battered boats up on dry dock, rotting wood, bark of trees, and so on. Im fascinated by the color and texture that appears with a macro lens. I do almost no post-processing after taking the shot.

Stunning clarity to this Marguerite – 5" is serious DoF management – just outstanding skill. And as for the pic the way you’ve composed it is perfect – looks to me like an abstract of a waterfall cascading into a pool.

  • DoF management is it, in a word – it takes me at least 5 minutes to get the camera perfectly positioned to achieve my goal of corner to corner sharpness. I looked at that blue gash without figuring out it was like a waterfall, but you nailed it – thx!!

Bold, vivid and pin sharp Marguerite!

  • thanks for noticing the sharpness A. I appreciate that as I take an inordinate amount of time setting these abstracts up to try for corner to corner sharpness. Very difficult with a macro just inches from the subject! Glad you like it.
