Dumpster – one of the few old ones in my city. Nikon D90 with Nikon Macro 60mm and tripod, up close and personal!

Pair it with Hope Rising

I love macro abstract work of rejected and neglected items in our society, especially rusty old dumpsters (skips) around the back of buildings, battered boats up on dry dock, rotting wood, bark of trees, and so on. Im fascinated by the color and texture that appears with a macro lens. I do almost no post-processing after taking the shot.

Wonderful jewel-like colors! (Mine is the sapphire…) I like the blue “bubbles” and I see this more optimistically. The golden lights are soaring upward and the effervescence is bubbling up to the top. Isn’t it just amazing what you can find on a dumpster??

  • Yes, dumpsters reveal much through the camera that we dont see with the eye. Thanks for your wonderful comment and the fave!

Very sad title but I get it – beautiful transition of colours – this dumpster is nicely subtle in its work. Interesting how each dumpster’s character comes out in their art.

  • Thanks Geoff – yes, I guess there is a ‘character’ to each dumpster! Hadnt thought of it quite like that.
