Portrait of young boys reading Dr. Seuss ABC
Watercolor and watercolor pencil on Stonehenge paper…The boys are around 3 and 5 years old.
Commissioned piece .
When I do art work of children I go into the home and take pictures of my subjects…I set it up to make it as interesting as possible…Put in props they can identify with..Here I through a rug over one corner of the couch to add color and make it more artistic. When your dealing with little kids you can’t hold their attention very long for example ten minutes if that. I learned that if you give them a book it adds to the composition and brings them together …Talking to them in a child like language helps to..You learn tricks to keep them focused when you’ve done it enough times. I try to make it as colorful as possible and ask where it will be hanging in the home..I then incorperate colors of the room into my painting .
