Colored portait, watercolor. watercolor pencil
Archers watercolor paper
Portrait of two children around the ages of seven and eight yrs.
This portrait was a commission…The interesting part of it is that the two children are actually married.
The boys father came to me and told me this and gave me two pictures of them as young children and asked me to paint them together and to put his sons arm around the little girl…When it was finished he loved it . He actually had tears in his eyes….He gave the picture to them for Christmas and they really loved it to.

I am a self taught portrait artist and photographer from Canada. I joined RB 2009. Most of my work is done in watercolor pencil, graphite, and pastel.

What a beautiful and unique concept. You have so skillfully succeeded in capturing the innocience of these two. I know they had to have loved this when they saw it.

  • I thought it was a good idea to..I’ve never had a request like this before and it turned out well…They really loved it…you would be surprised how many people start to cry..seeing your own image in a painting is an emotional experience. A portrait is also something you pass down to your children and then theirs etc. Thankyou Jim :)

  • Thankyou Leslie..I wasn’t there when they got it but they wanted to meet me but then we moved out of the area so never did. They really loved it. :)

Very impressive portraits, Margaret. The fact that you could change their positions without a reference just blows me away. Beautiful work, not wonder they loved it.

  • Thankyou Bev..when you have done as many portraits as I have you learn from your mistakes and you put it all in a little filing cabinate in your head…When you need the information you just pull it out “memory” . You know what a piece is going to look like before you start it. Does that make any sense to you ? lol :)
