Artist's Description

Portrait, Colored photograph, Kodak developing paper
Blackfoot Indian Chief….Candid shot, Calgary Stampede , Canada..
.His clothes and headdress were beautiful..His outfit was white swayed with colored beads sown in, i..Must say he was a little scary looking..I’ve never seen a native that red before. He was the real thing!
I might add that this group of Blackfoot hadn’t lost their culture…They could still speak their native language and still had the skills of their people from long ago. It was very interesting to see. It was the best Pow Wow I have ever been to.
I asked one of the chiefs if I could take his picture, He was an much older man and he was in full dress but was in a wheel chair. So he says to me “If you will give me some candy I will let you take my picture.” So I had some in my purse and went to give him some and his son came running over and told me he was a diabetic so he couldn’t have any…He wasn’t too happy about getting caught…..
