Portrait drawing , full body of young boy of 8 or 9years, 18×22..I did this drawing at least 30 years ago when I only did pencil drawings..I was afraid of color ?? Capturing the light and contrast really inspired me to do this piece..It is the first piece I had printed…The printing company entered it in a printing contest and they got first place. I was pretty proud of this piece of work back then. It was pretty well the first piece I did that went anywhere.I used ordinary drawing paper at the time..I didn’t know anything about acid free paper back then…so it turned yellow and is sitting under a pile of my work in my flat drawers..but the prints look great ! Back then I didn’t have a drawing board or a studio or anything fancy.:..I drew it on my daughter’s little table that she had tea partys on..lol…Didn’t even have a light…My eyes had perfect vision…Unforturnately straining my eyes on my works has taken it;s tole..I never press on my paper to get darker color…I add my pigment in layers and use the surface as part of the effect I want. I use grades graphite pencils from 2h to 9B and charcoal for the really dark areas. I never cross my paper unless I have a protection under my hand to prevent smudging….This was a fun drawing and I think the espression on his face says it all.
