Canon EOS 550D
My garden, Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa

Water drops on my Zebra grass – Miscanthus sinensis (also known as Chinese silver grass, Eulalia grass, maiden grass, zebra grass, Susuki grass, porcupine grass). The foliage develops distinctive golden horizontal bands in midsummer. In autumn, silvery-white plumes appear and last up to two months. Grows 4-7 ft. tall. Origin : Eastern Asia and west to Africa.

“Photography is hard to hold onto – it is easy for someone to imitate someone else.  So easy to use the same textures, subjects, colors.  It is especially easy when someone is learning their craft.  Find someone you like, follow them, absorb them.  There is nothing wrong with that.  It only becomes wrong when you stop there, when you don’t follow yourself all the way out.”

I am a watercolorist living on my little piece of African soil in Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa. The inspiration for my art is the wonderfully rich variety of Fauna and Flora to be found throughout this beautiful country.

What unique grass, Maree. So lovely and fresh-looking with the moisture. And that lovely bokeh!

You sent me searching for the lovely, young Emma Tree. I found her blog. Thank you. Perhaps she’s not so young, yet very insightful.

  • Ah, thanks for your lovely comment Jan, so pleased you like it! Also glad you found Emma Tree, I also find her blog totally inspirational!

Oh, joy, Maree. Now I’m lost, reading quotations and following links of literate, not-young women. I wonder if I’ll find you at the table?

  • Ah yes, those links are wonderful! Yes, you’ll be seeing me around there Jan!

  • And don you just LOVE literate, not-so-young women?
