In the noisy confusion of life... by

… keep peace in your soul

It’s been so long since I’ve taken the time to just sit and read.
Curl op on the sofa with a nice cup of tea and just read.
I’ve realised that it’s a choice I made and that I now have the choice to rectify this.
Just another gift to be grateful for.
Wishing you a week filled with time to read.

When I see your work, I try to pretend to myself that I’m watching see you do it…; and, thus, I hope to be able to figure out exactly how to do it, too; but, of course, something’s are far easier said than they dare done! Superb! ;-)

    I figure you must have…
1> executed the drawing part, first
2> next, slightly wetted the paper
3> then, added a thin layer of background tone of washes
4> painted the main centre part
5> used a thin brush to do the writing with
    …anyway, that’s my best guess…???

  • Thanks Paul and yes, you’re spot-on! Pencil sketch, wetted the paper, back-ground tone washes, painted each book, thin brush for writing and some shadow under the shelf! Smile!

Wishing you a week filled with time to read.

Recently, I went and brought myself an Amazon Kindle eReader. It allows you to search/buy/download/store multiple different books from off the internet; where there are literally millions to chose from; just type in any subject to go do a search; and, loads of related book links do come back; furthermore, you can download and read the first chapter of each book entirely for FREE; thus, you have a chance to try before you buy. I should also mention that there are many 100’s of eBooks which it’s possible to download entirely for FREE! The Amazon Kindle accessory leather book cover also comes with a built-in light; which means you can get to read in bed at night; without disturbing anyone else. I actually went and brought it in the hope that it would help me to read more…classics/poetry/etc; and, sure enough it does the job very effectively, indeed; because already I’ve gone and downloaded tons of stuff; including, Shakespeare, Keats, Wilde, learn French, Programming, Philosophy, Photography/Art/etc. Don’t know if you’re the type into that sort of technology; but, it’s certainly something well worth mentioning; especially, taken in the light of all that you’ve already gone and said. You can see reviews at YouTube; and, read more about it at Amazon. GOOD LUCK! ;-)

  • I have also thoroughly investigated Kindle but decided against it as I love the feel of a book and paper in my hands. And anything with a battery or that needs to be plugged in gives me the creeps these days, that’s why I did not buy the cordless mouse for my Apple when my mouse conked in, the batteries always go flat just when you need it the most! ha ha!

What a great painting Maree…and what a great idea! Too bad I have to go to work today…I could see myself on the sofa with a warm blanket and a book…and perhaps a nice glass of wine in the afternoon…this vision will keep me going today!! Great artwork! Enjoy your reading!

  • Oh Marie, you’ve described it beautifully! It is rather cool today, the ideal day for snuggling under a warm blankie with that glass of wine! Glad you like it and thanks also for that fav, much appreciated!
