Coffee (Nescafé instant) and W&N watercolours on Visual 200gsm
The St Lucia Estuary is located in South Africa along the east coast of KwaZulu Natal.
Part of the estuary at St. Lucia often gets silted up at the entrance but when rains are good and the rivers flow strongly, there is an outflow from St Lucia to the sea and the system may have only a very low salt content. However, during periods of extended drought the rivers stop flowing and lake level falls to below that of the sea.
The St Lucia Estuary is the gateway to the Eastern Shores of Lake St Lucia. The region contains the highest vegetated dunes in the world, extensive and diverse wetland systems, as well as coastal grasslands with an associated fauna which includes the Africa’s highest density of common reedbuck. Numerous waterfowl, grassland, forest and sea birds provide an attraction to birdwatchers from around the world.

I am a watercolorist living on my little piece of African soil in Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa. The inspiration for my art is the wonderfully rich variety of Fauna and Flora to be found throughout this beautiful country.
