W&N Watercolour on Bockingford 300gsm watercolour paper

  1. “How strange that Nature does not knock, and yet does not intrude!”
    — by Emily Dickinson

Spring is a time when flowers blossom amongst fresh picturesque backdrops! It denotes a new growth and a new beginning as well. Spring is one of my favourite seasons, as it tends to always keep me pepped up as well. This is the time when you can hear birds chirping softly as new buds cover the greens.

After a most beautiful day, last night we had the most gorgeous Spring evening – for the first time in months we could actually sit on our deck and enjoy a sunset (Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa). Whoot whoot! These are the Blue gum trees across the road from us, still bearing evidence of the veld fires that have swept through the area a couple of weeks ago (minus the mountain and the water! – that’s artistic license!)

I am a watercolorist living on my little piece of African soil in Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa. The inspiration for my art is the wonderfully rich variety of Fauna and Flora to be found throughout this beautiful country.

And excellent artistic license it is! As we move into Autumn, this Spring scene seems remote (Fall is actually my favorite season), but it strikes a very pleasant chord. Beautiful work as always, Maree.

  • Aaah, thank you Sheila! Still can hardly believe it’s Spring, it actually came so suddenly, from freezing cold to beautiful weather! But the signs have been there for a while, little green shoots and peach blossoms, and it’s very welcome. I also love Autumn, when it’s not so hot plus the bonus of the beautiful autumn colours.
