Learn to relax, to clean the mind... by

Derwent Watercolour pencils on Bockingford 300gsm

I feel like I’ve reached an age where I can relax a little bit with the knowledge of what I’ve been through, take all that experience and use it. I love the challenge of trying to get back to where I’ve been, and beyond it.
- Cathy Freeman

Not only is the Leopard powerful, graceful and arguably one of the most beautiful of all the large cats, and a master of stealth and survival, it seems she can teach us a thing or two about relaxing!

The Leopard (Panthera pardus) was once distributed across eastern and southern Asia and Africa, from Siberia to South Africa, but its range of distribution has decreased radically because of hunting and loss of habitat. It is now chiefly found in sub-Saharan Africa.

“Learn to relax: to clean the mind
Of fear and doubt and care,
And in vacuity to find
The perfect peace that’s there.
With lassitude of heart and hand,
When every sinew slacks,
How good to rest the old bean and
Relax, relax.”
- Extract from ‘Relax’ by Robert William Service

I am a watercolorist living on my little piece of African soil in Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa. The inspiration for my art is the wonderfully rich variety of Fauna and Flora to be found throughout this beautiful country.
