Coffee and watercolour on Ashrad 200gsm HOT sketch paper A4 (8″ × 12″)
“All summer she scattered the daisy leaves;
They only mocked her as they fell.
She said: “The daisy but deceives;
‘He loves me not,’ ‘he loves me will,’
One story no two daisies tell.”
Ah foolish heart, which waits and grieves
Under the daisy’s mocking spell.”
A couple of months ago I stopped having milk and sugar in my coffee, now only take it straight. As I was finishing my cup of coffee this afternoon, I used the left-overs in the mug to do a quick study of two daisies, adding a bit of watercolour for the stem and centre of the flowers. The paper this was done on is very smooth, actually meant only for sketching, so the coffee reacted totally different to what it does on a good grade watercolour paper. But I was having fun, so there!
