Once you have lived in or visited Africa, visions of Africa become indelible in a visitor’s memory. Vivid sunsets… warm and welcoming people…. amazing wildlife and, of course, the incredible silhouette of an Acacia tree etched against an African sunset, all combine to make a visit to South Africa one of life’s peak experiences. Seasons are reversed here, so the best time to visit is July through October. On nights when there’s a full moon and high water, you may even witness a rare and thrilling lunar rainbow!
Extract from Wayne Visser’s poem sum’s Africa up well :
Richard’s review : “The delicate weave, and seductive nature of this work only begs for more in my opinion…she is totally revealed in this scene…”
Alma’s review : “This wonderful painting depicts them and the amazing setting sun moving together as one into the night. Slowly, inevitably and with infinite grace, the sun leaving shadows and the giraffe only footprints.”

Fabulous work Maree…calendar??
Thank you George! Great idea, if I could perhaps get enough sunsets together! Or just typical African scenes…?

Beautiful. It is wonderful in that the giraffe has an amazing loping gait, so slow and unhurried. This wonderful painting depicts them and the amazing setting sun moving together as one into the night. Slowly, inevitably and with infinite grace, the sun leaving shadows and the giraffe only footprints.
It reminds me of an unforgettable incident on the Chobe River, a sunset cruise when literally hundreds of elephant crossed onto an island and silhouetted against the golden glow of the setting sun. Love the poem with which I can totally empathize. Thank you for a glorious start to my day Alma xx
It’s so grand that I can bring back memories of your visit here Alma – funnily enough, so have many of your photographs done that for me, like the Puffins reminded me of my visit to the Scilly Isles. I am pleased by what you see in this painting and your understanding of this Continent. thank you for your beautiful words, which are also a glorious start to my day! Hugs
