Taken in my kitchen (Tarlton, Gauteng, South Africa)
My Cape Robin (Cossypha caffra) is still a regular visitor to my kitchen (you can read his full story here) and this morning I managed to get a couple of pics of him in the kitchen. I usually put out some minced meat for him on the kitchen table at about 4.15am, because that’s when he usually comes in, sitting in the kitchen and singing at full throttle. His wife joined him this morning, but hastily took flight when I appeared with the camera. This Victorian Balloon-back chair seems to be his favourite perch.
The Cape Robin is resident breeder in southern and eastern Africa from Kenya south to Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland. It is a common species at forest edges and in scrub, fynbos, karoo, plantations, gardens and parks.
