Artist's Description

W&N watercolour on Bockingford 300gsm
.
Way past our rainy season, I sketched this storm brewing over the Crocodile River in the North-West Province in South Africa. This river flows through Broederstroom on the way to Hartebeespoort Dam (also known as ‘Harties’.
.
Inspired by my painting, Elizabeth Kendall wrote the beautiful poem below on the spur of the moment. What a talent to be able to gather beautiful words at a moment’s notice!
.
.
Aan die oewers van die Krokodil
waar my rooidakhuisie
sawens wag vir my
raak ek meer as dikwels stil
en stuur my oë na Bo
waar donkerblou die onweerswolke lê
en wag vir my om weer eens
in my kleinheid net
