When the Willow Whispers

The willow’s wisdom
thousand years or more
What does she share?
What secrets does she store?

Whispering answers
moving with the wind
Life filling your lungs
what comfort she sends

Will she whistle and
fight the winter? No . . .
She rests peacefully
through the ice and snow

The willow whispers
“Be patient and calm.
This too shall pass
as promised in Psalms.”

“I have witnessed want,
both great and small.
I have seen kindness
rise above it all.”

“When there is evil,
yes, the world will make
Remember to see
a snake for a snake.”

“All that I shelter
is under this tree
If every tree could
What our world would be!”

“To move with the wind
To feel the sun’s glow
To breathe with the old
watch what the young know.”

Listen to her leaves
The truth she will tell
The willow whispers
and sings, “All is well!”

When the Willow Whispers by

A rhyme hoping to find a home with illustrations in book format someday :)

    Congrats on your feature!
This would sound great being read out loud to a child (or to myself).
