New York City in Impressionism
New York City in Wide Stroke Poetry
New York City in Impressionism belongs to the following groups:
The Word TreeMy mother’s smile served me well
Kind words at the diner
Then the New York Hat
An old man in a lime jacket
The tortoise to my hare
Born in Manhattan & looking for something exciting
His meander caught up to my New York Pace
Every stoplight
Men passing papers at every street corner
Take one
Someone printed this
“Sweet smile –
I’d quit my job for you!”
Extremely kind catcall
A dollar for the old woman
“Bless you”
God help you –
Dreaming of the day that will be true
New meetings of old friends
Spirituality, Ancient Customs, the Oak tree
Trying new tastes from worlds
Older than my spirit
The joy of generosity and exchange
Witness to people on top of people
Air too thick to breathe
Walking through physical mud
My spirit is growing
The Gutenberg Bible – surprising me
Impressions of color, singing to me
Old friends in their world,
Their homes, their struggles
Some more and again
Explaining traditions each holds natural
Feeling better, feeling worn
Body aching, soul hungry for more
Belonging to the Big City
Its melancholy spirit
My mother’s smile served me well

This was wonderful! New York is my favourite American city, and reading your words, I’m reminded why. Fabulous!

I’ve never been there, but this is exactly how I expect it to be…thrilling, sad, a bit terrifying, and beautiful all at the same time! I was actually breathing harder as I read it…and it’s over now, so I don’t think it was just an asthma attack.
Great job!

Thanks Kelly, that’s a very sincere compliment. And I’m glad it’s not an asthma attack!
