Profile

I am a Canadian that has lived in Nanchang, China since 2001. It is near Shanghai. Perhaps 6 or 7 hundred km.

I have found that I need to express myself with more than just straight photography. This year I began to create both in the computer, and on canvas. I am just beginning to learn the basics of creating this way.
Seems strange to me that it has taken 57 years for this need to appear, but I feel driven every day to try to take a blank space and apply my image on it. Sometimes I am pleased with my meager efforts and other times I give up and go do something else
An artist’s sensibilities, I don’t know what they are, as I am NOT an artist. Perhaps a craftsman toiling away at this. That is a good enough situation for me

!!

This is now my home and as an avid photographer, I enjoy all the opportunities that present themselves here.

It is a wonderful land to see.

I am very happy to have this opportunity to show you my images here. These are the pictures I see in my mind’s eye.

I use a D300 and a D40 with a variety of lenses.

My everyday lens is a 50 f1.8 that is always handy.

I have my eye on a D3 for the future but price may dictate a D700.

I am enthusiastic about digital and all the possibilities to manipulate an image. My background is in film and for30 years I used my trusty NIKON F and Ektachrome 64.

I hope you see something you like in my offerings. I am always pleased to hear your comments, critiques, and any advice you may have.

I am delving into an abstract vein to explore some of the creativity that I want to express. How this will turn out, I do not know. I do not have any formal training in “art” but rely on my heart and that “gut-feeling”
