Artist's Description

One of my photos used in the 60 minute current affairs documentary on Samira Hashi which was first broadcast on BBC Three TV on Monday April 30th 2012 and used subsequently by the BBC World Wide.

The documentary is about a young girl’s journey from London to Somalia.
Samira Hashi was born in central Somalia in 1991, ten days later the civil war broke out. Her family fled and lived in various refugee camps before she arrived in the UK two years later. Samira now lives in North London. However as she reaches her 21st birthday she wants to experience first-hand what effect the war has had on a generation of young people growing up in conflict and in this documentary we will follow her as she goes back to her home
country for the first time.
