If I saw you by the pond in a dream
Growing up we went to the park
The park was in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains
Near Wheeling, WV and the park was called Oglebay
The park had a pond with a walkway around it and would take
About twenty minutes to walk the circumference
It was a beautiful park with magnificent white swans
Paddle boats filled with young lovers floating amongst the swans
And if my rose colored glasses have not relented to the days gone by
I loved the park and especially the pond and women that were rendered helpless there in my arms, in the paddle boats, on the park benches….on the hillside
In the midst of love and serenity, throwing popcorn to the Majestic Swans.
A blanket thrown on the hillside for us to lye upon
to stare into each others eyes…deeper and deeper…until lost in each other
To feel each others tenderness, to hold on for dear love’s sake
If I saw you by the pond would you succumb, would you be mine
If I saw you by the pond, a sweet and beautiful stranger
Eyes full of life and tenderness, but lonely and forsaken
Hair blowing in the wind, waiting for my hands to flow through
Would you be mine, in my dream by the pond
I would venture to share with you the life and love of the pond
And as we paddled, out farther a sweet caress a kiss for you
My hold on you warm and tender a sweet embrace, out on the pond
Were are you now my once sweet and endless beauty
Hidden in the haze and fuzzy future or in the long lost past
or was it just a dream gone by a nothing gone by fast.
Or was it just a dream gone by, because you just walked past….
