Mutianyu to Jiankou Great Wall - HDR by

The Great Wall of China has only a small area that is readily accessible, the most popular is Badaling, recently Mutianyu has started to become more popular. The wall was started around AD 500, however the wall as we know it today was built during the Ming Dynasty to keep out the invading hordes of Mongols. Not along after the wall was completed a conspiracy by some Chinese Generals allowed Genghis Khan to pass through the wall and invade Beijing. This was then the begining of the Yuan Dynasty in Chinese history, and the whole of China was united under Genghis Khan to form China as we know it today about 800 years ago.

The image is an HDR image due to the different lighting it was necessary to take two shots to expose for both the view through the portal and expose for the stonework inside.
