Artist's Description

Ki is the Japanese kanji for “tree”, here I have planted/painted a little grove on earth and under water, on an old newspaper front page. The block letters on the newspaper heading, the beginning of our alphabet, set against the more synthetic kanji writing to symbolize our main tool for comunication, and then the two sentences on the cover: “liquid society” and “frozen dance”, suggested the colors and the spiral around the small figures. To sum up, a metaphor of the strong undercurrents behind a paralyzed and frozen surface.

Original: collage on an old newspaper, black ink, acrylic, water and oil waxes and colored tapes. 30X40cm
