TIME WILL TELL

My youngest son and his wife had just become new parents of a son. Within a few weeks his wife became very ill with acute pancreatisis. She was in critical condition due to the infection and she had numerous operations but he stayed by her side day and night for two months in the hospital. Just 18 and going through such a struggle for life. I wrote this poem on one of my visits as I watched my son watch over her with so much love and admiration.

Through his eyes I can see
His heart knows what could be

The love that shows from within
Waiting for her life to begin

Tears of pain from deep inside
Closely he lays by her side

Kiss of truth from his heart
Loving touch from the start

As he waits with flowing eyes
Dreading when they say goodbyes

Waiting for time he holds her hand
As the hour glass loses its sand

As her heart beats hard and fast
He only prays that it will last

As they wait the memories flow
Now she looks as white as snow

Prayers from all that know
Protect her so she will grow

Only tomorrow will time tell
If all for her will end well
