For a while there I thought you’d never come around
Glowering down at us,
All standing together, waiting.
Waiting for the cardinal authority to change into a green mandate
There are always a few who’ll challenge you,
The young and the hurried.
A couple of indecisive ones totter, cautiously
On the edge.
They look for signs of danger
Look left, look right, look left again.
But resign themselves back to the safety of the curb.
And we wait.
