Hi my name is Robert J Mann Jr.
& Welcome to my “Spontaneous Expressionism”
In my earliest years one of my teachers said I would be an artist and that is exactly what I’m growing up to be.
I say “growing up” because an artists never stops growing.
I believe a true artist never gets to a point where he or she thinks they are at “the” place in their creative life and this is as “good as it gets”.
I believe a true artists gets to a point where they say,” I know there’s more…I just haven’t gotten there yet”
Art offers a sense of freedom, freedom to manifest, fertilize, incubate and create new beginnings.
These “beginnings” are a “minds eye view” from the artist’s perspective and when applied to canvas or paper, the finished work is truly a new born living tangible piece of the artists himself.
There are so many styles and mediums yet from an early age I was drawn to “Modern” and “Contemporary” art.
My style is an almost psychedelic expressionist template of the “abstract movement” and covers a variety of topics.
Being drawn to the abstract allows me to respond to and create what I see and envision and at a pace that allows me to pour out colors and shapes in a fury of strokes that I call “Artist Spontaneous Expressionism”
In my work, my lack of fine art drawing skills and knowledge has worked to my advantage and from that I have developed my own unique style by compensating with curves, angles, colors and different perspectives, which allow me to stretch the limits of what others would call “normal” and lets me take my art to new levels and horizons and in doing so, I would only hope that you the viewer, would come along with me.
My schooling in art includes RISD, Rhode Island School of Design, CCRI, Community Collage of Rhode Island and RIC, Rhode Island College.
My training in art is an on going and never ending daily maze where it’s truly is the journey and not the destination.
I also hold an associate’s degree in liberal arts and am moving towards a bachelor’s degree in art studio as well.
I have in the past delved into architectural forms while adding abstract figures in and around them to complement each form on its own, as well as when placed together in the same image.
My artistic output has increased ten fold yet my appetite for more knowledge can’t seem to keep up.
My hunger for more is the driving source and energy that supplies me with my ideas and seeds my needs to continue to create.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work and please flee free to leave comments or questions.
I’ll also be adding new works and updating my site often including where I’ll be showing in the near future as well, so stop by often.
Thanks,
Bob Mann Jr.
