Who? Manda Ward, that’s me.

When? Resident of RL since March 1965.

Where? Born, raised and still living in beautiful Cornwall, UK.

Why? For me, the process of making is the most important thing, irrespective of the form or the product that may result. I have often said that were a painting I’d been working on to disappear a moment after I put my brush down, I would be no less satisfied or excited than the artist who can only rest once their vision has been achieved, mounted and hung in a gallery for all to admire.
Though my pictures are all drawn from RL places or moments I have passed through, you could say that they are all virtual environments since I paint only from memories, glimpses and imagination. Consequently, the landscapes you see here exist only truly within the confines of their frames.
I have learned never to start with an end in mind, but rather to allow colour to suggest the path I take and until I collected these pictures together in one space, I hadn’t realised how often I find paths leading into the distance evolving from the colours on my paper.
