Free from fighting

Young Jenny passed away today
She was frightened and scared
But found a strength of courage
As her final days had neared

Jenny couldn’t understand
Why had she been picked
She was a good good person
Whom fate had cruelly tricked

At only 29 years young
A wife and devoted mother
Who couldn’t understand why
It could not have been another

“Why me” she used to ask
With a look of such innocence
“I’ve done nothing wrong”
It doesn’t make any sense

Each day I would watch
As she slowly fades away
Slipping from life’s grip
Bit by bit each day

Jenny did nothing wrong
All she ever did was live
But fate is a fickle friend
It took all she had to give

It shook her from her life
In a most violent wave
Taking away her future
Jenny was so brave
