Taken in the forests near Winterthur, Switzerland. These are built to help wild bees survive in their natural habitat. They are fun to build and serve a very useful purpose.

Thanks swaby. I’ve seen quite a few recently in all different shapes and sizes. I haven’t built any myself but intend to in the future as soon as I find the right place.
Superb image, interesting display of shapes, shades, great info! Cheers:)
Thanks kindly Dania.
Thank you Charmiene. You can see them quite often here nowadays in all shapes and sizes.

Scots guy living in Switzerland, photographing pieces of wood in the forests (I read your profile Lynn)You have been around! Many thanks indeed for your lovely comment.
makes for an awesome image and good to see the bee’s getting a little help :)
Its becoming popular here recently and one comes across them quite often in the forests. Thanks for your comment. It’s also fun to build and very rewarding to see them ’bee’ing appreciated.
Mamba This is fabulous ! Never seen this. It looks soooo, beautiful ! I would nearly take the first train to Winterhur to see it in real !
Hi Woepi, I’ve often seen them on forest edges or in fields. They are built in all shapes and sizes. You can also make them in your garden if you don’t mind attracting bees (cheaper than taking a train from the Netherlands to Winterthur). Many thanks for your lovely comment.
How fun and funny – that I thought when I clicked on this – without knowing where it was taken – I was thinking “Swiss cheese!” LOL. FAVORITE. I love the various shapes and patterns! Nicely spotted and captured, mamba!Cordially, Ellen
Many thanks waddleudo and for the Fav. I like your remark on the Swiss cheese, never thought of it while taking this but there is a resemblance mmmmm… must go now and have a quick fondue
