quiver tree in the setting sun by

Quiver trees are indigenous and endemic to the hot and dry southern part of Namibia and Namaqualand in South Africa. the trunk and branches can be easily hollowed out, they were used by the local San hunters to make quivers for their arrows, giving its name to this tree. The tree only blossoms for the first time after 20 to 30 years and can easily reach 300 years of age.

    Stunning colors Mamba, beautiful!

  • Thanks swaby, I can always depend on you for a quick response. It doesn’t look so late with the blue sky but behind me, the sun was going down quite rapidly as one can see with the long shadows on the boulders. Many thanks again swaby.

  • Thanking you very much Dania for your kind comments. You may not believe it but after an hour, it was completely dark here. I went back to my tent which was only a few yards away and started to look for scorpions.
