Taken at a snake park in Switzerland.
Western green mamba (Dendroaspis viridis). West Africa.
Closely related to the Eastern green mamba and the Black mamba. Although deadly, as it has a similar, dangerously neurotoxic venom as the black mamba, it is not as potent and injects smaller quantities. It is also not as nervous as its cousin. Found mainly in trees but does sometimes venture to the ground to bask or chase its prey.

No Photoshop! This is how she looks, a real beauty!

Beautiful capture. I hope you were behind glass for this capture. Great colors and beautiful creature.

  • Hi Bunny. The mamba was in a large terrarium in a profi snake park, so there was glass between us which allowed me to take this closeup.
    Many thanks.
