I love this shot! and i really want to get a good macro lens, any recommendations?!

  • Hi Steven, thanks. This wasn’t actually a macro shot, it was as close as I could get without using macro. The camera used was not even an SLR, it was a Nikon Coolpix P90. The cute insect was trapped between a mosquito net and the window of my tent while camping in the bush near the Magaliesberg in South Africa. I saved her and put her carefully on a piece of wood in the bush expecting her to flee, instead she stayed and started posing, so I grabed my camera and took a couple of pics. Later, I put her on a big tree before leaving. And that….was the end of our relationship.

Its a very nice shot considering the size of it (I’m guessing its a younger mantis), and its funny when you blow at them, they start swaying to imitate a leaf in the wind.
