Freiburger Hexen by Jörg Holtermann

Photographic Prints

Two of the “Freiburger Hexen” (= Witches of Freiburg) during the Rosenmontag carnival parade.

Their costume is based on medieval women’s garb (reg gugel hood, gown), the two braids are also a common medieval form of wearing the hair.
That costume stands in contrast to the usual/traditional “rag costume” nearly all the other witches’ guilds wear.
