Practically all important buildings can be seen in this panorama from the Basilica San Francesco on the left, over the Rocca Maggiore on top, to the cathedral San Rufino and the basilica di Santa Chiara on the far left. To the right of San Rufino one can see the tower belonging to the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo (Palace of the People’s Captain) rise from among the roofs.

Since the year 2000 the whole town is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites (officially it is titled as “Assisi, the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi and other Franciscan Sites”).
