wow. powerful image. really interesting shot.
maka1967
thanks, everyone. the thing most saddens me is people’s indifference to others’ suffering.
Martin Derksema
An image with a lot of impact. You are a great observer and you managed to catch a very special moment here. Very well executed. I love the vagueness of the cityscape and the warm light. Also like the halo around his head.
coffeebean
Wow thank you for sharing this most powerful image, You have captured a sad reflection of mankind everywhere, the whole image speaks. EXCELLENT

a very moving and thought-provoking image – nice work!!
elliewinds
very impactful, zhao. please keep sharing these. there is a disconnect out there that we all need to somehow ‘connect’ and without knowledge we can’t do it.

Zhao, probably your very best work to date, it is so emotive and indicative of the worldwide condition, known in the UK as “I’m alright, Jack”. Basically, as long as I am OK, no one else really matters. Great work, my friend
Amy Hing-Young
Congrats! An extremely powerful shot, well captured, well framed, lots of strong and subtle emotion coming through.
maka1967
thanks, everyone! This photo is a tribute to William Eugene Smith, who’s “The Walk to Paradise Garden” I saw as a teenager.

when we were small, we were told, when we saw some one less fortunate, there, but for the grace of god, go i, so yes ,we need to look around and then know our own life and its blessing of this minute, because all could change in a eye blink, good photo, of life,s realitys

Wow, great timing. The look in that woman’s face!
Melissa Contreras
Very strong image, the disgust in the womans face saddens me, we are all equal.
AuntieJ
I hate to be cliche, but… “A picture is worth a thousand words”. This isn’t much about this photo that isn’t perfect- the lighting, the focus, the capture of the emotion on woman’s face, the halo around the head. So much symbolism in a shot of every day life. The darker lighting and the busy street traffic converys the person’s struggle to make their way through the city (and life). As a person who worked with the handicapped for many years, I saw this same reaction too many times. People are so arogant; it could happen to anyone. All it takes is 1 accident or illness. I’m so glad you were given the change to catch this shot.
pinkyjain
This is a wonderful photo, really captures the almost disgust on the woman’s face. Does she think the person likes being with only one leg. Your so right, its amazing how indifferent & insensitive people can be to one another. Great photo, & Congrats for being Featured on the Home page

Powerful and confronting….......great capture, well done.

stevendesiow
Very meaningful and very nice capture. Yes nowaday many people, especially those living in the urban area, are quite distant to stanger but luckily there are few groups of people from various charity organisation such as Red Cross, World Vision, Tzu Chi (http://www.tzuchi.org.tw/) etc who are willing to offer their help all time. Lucky to be part of them.
Nith
wow the world so so unbalance , i love this shot very much
maka1967 replied
Thank you so much, Nith, for your encouragement. There are sad stories in reality. But we are powerless artists. That’s perhaps what we can do for the unfortunate.
Grant Middleditch
We walk this earth but we have so many fears! Just because we are different or have something missing doesn’t mean that they are less of a person.

Zhao,
deep feelings generated by this image. Your generosity, too, is thoughtful and caring. As an aside, i was moved by just how many people I saw on my trip who had amputations, partly or totally.

maka, i really like this shot. It has all the elements of an eye catching street photography. the dialogue is brilliant, the cars in opposite directions to the two, the blue spot somehow found a comfort zone on her leg. There is a story here. well done!
