Profile
Born in the city of Tbilisi in 1969. I studied at the I. Nikoladze School of Art from 1984–88 and in the painting department of Tbilisi’s State Art Academy from 1990–96.
The theme of woman is predominant in my artwork. Beautiful, dainty, sophisticated, incredibly feminine and stylized characters are prevalent throughout. my compositions are of a decorative nature and convey textures. The backgrounds of my paintings are reminiscent of textile collages in which I elaborate every detail and ornament.
So much energy is invested in the background that it is hardly a mere background! The characters’ eyes are expressive, their hands exaggerated, their fingers sometimes nervously cramped, all of which grants unique expressiveness to the paintings.
I’ve had exhibitions in Russia, England, Ireland, Ukraine, USA and the Netherlands
