This photomanipulation depicting the sword in the stone originally started out as an idea for a picture showing excalibur raising from the lake, but the picture of a lake I had wasn’t right and so decided to make it the sword in the stone.

The story goes that excalibur rose from the lake for Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon and that it was thrown back in the lake and landed in the stone. The stone was cut out of the lake and people tried to pull it out, because of the legend that whoever pulled it out was the true king of britain.

The grass, stone, sword and starburst effect are all seperate elements.
