Liquid Diamonds
Tori Amos
“i guess i’m an underwater thing
i’m liquid running
there’s a sea secret in me
it’s plain to see it is rising
but i must be flowing liquid diamonds”

There is something about the ocean that renews the soul… refreshes the mind in a way that goes beyond just the sensation of cool water on skin… washes all the worries of the world away.

I drew this in my week up in Byron… i hadn’t intended to draw any more “girls & the sea”… i guess i can call it a series now that there’s 3?…
It’s just what flowed onto the paper as i sat in the sun watching the waves break, dissappearing into a some sort of seaside trance… i guess maybe i am an underwater thing.

She is wonderful!! I love how that big wave forms a kind of big hair look on top of her head. Also her eyes and expression are fantastic! I definately think we needed one more of these….maybe even one more ;)

  • Thanks so much Tammy! Hehe i kept thinking it looked like some sort of crazy hat or headband!
Hmm yes i suspect she may emerge again… can’t help it! But not for the next month or so, i’ve another little art project to work on!

incredibly beautiful Sarah, i think this is a lot like you… whether or not, matters not…it’s beautiful, and i love it… your pencil work is so fine, so perfect, her eyes simply amaze me…and you didn’t say a word, thank goodness i’m going through my list and found this!! thank goodness is all i can say! :) xxx

  • Thanks so much Karin! Well no, it wasn’t intended to be me or anyone particular really… the vast majority was done around at the Pass with only the ocean to stare into… so really she must be an “underwater thing” :)… but thankyou, i think i’d be quite happy that shade of blue!
Hmmm perfect i think not, but that’s the “perfectionist” in me speaking… i feel keep learning all the time though & that i’m happy about!
Hehe i think it’s so much nicer when people discover things themselves… don’t you think so? A nice surpise i hope!!!

Stunning work of art that makes me wonder if you are inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai. Anyway it is gorgeous – a fav for me :o))

  • Thankyou so much for a wonderful comment!
My knowledge of Hokusai is limited to the wave artwork Aussie surf brand Quiksilver used on a Men’s tee a few years back… but with that image in mind i can see why you’d make the connection… perhaps i should go look a little more… Thankyou!!!
