Hello bubblers!
You may or may not have noticed that the last 12 months or so I’ve been a lot less present in this space (sad to say). There’s no single reason for that – but less free time, less creative time and directing my creative energy in different ways have all played a part.
Having less free time for specifically creative art projects has been balanced out by taking a creative approach to life as a whole. Whether that be through writing, inspiring or challenging perceptions on issues that are important to me; it’s fundamentally shifted my own perspective of what defines creativity and/or what it means to live a creative life. And most importantly, how valuable this is to both myself and to other people.
One of the things it’s lead to me creating is a blog. It’s been an idea that swayed back & forth, on and off the cards for quite some time but finally it’s up and jumping. Rather than explain, it’s probably best you take a look to see where I’m heading with it and I’d really love for you to do so. You’ll find it here: http://sirenrising.blogspot.com/
One part to it that I will elaborate on is Imaginspiration. Simply put, artwork/photos/images that inspire imagination. I have been doing a little more digital work with this sort of focus myself and will be adding it to RB soon, but for the most part, I plan to showcase the work of others – especially some of the amazing artists I’ve come to know here on the Bubble. All images are posted are with permission, fully credited and linked back to the artist. If you think your work fits with my direction and you’d be happy to allow me to use it leave me a comment below or send me a bmail. :)
I’ll also be posting the Imaginspiration and Quotation streams on my Tumblr, but it’s completely up to the artist whether they’re happy for their work to be posted there also.
Which brings me to something of a sidepoint, albeit a worthwhile one – the LINKwithlove project. Have any of you heard about this? Basically it’s an initiative that aims to promote respect and support of Creative Copyright/Intellectual Property, through a grass roots movement. Here’s a brief passage from the site:
“LINKwithlove is the idea that by banding together in a “neighbourhood watch” type way – we, the internet, could teach and learn respect when dealing with intellectual property online. It is our dream that art, music, photography, words, design, ideas, etc – be shared in a way that is respectful, educated and kind.
This site is a collection of links to information, resources and communities that can help protect your intellectual property as a creator of online content. We at LINKwithlove.org encourage you to display one of our badges on your site or social network to show the world that you respect and LINKwithlove.
By teaching and supporting the proper ways to share intellectual property – we will make a difference.”
I don’t think I need to state how FANTASTIC an idea I this is, and how much I support it. I also think that it’s something in the interests of virtually the entire Red Bubble community so I’d encourage you all to pass it on, spread the word and help make a positive difference.
