Gollum is a fictional character, introduced in J R R Tolkien’s novel The Hobbit, and became an important supporting character in its sequel, The Lord of the Rings.
Gollum was a Stoor Hobbit of the River-folk, originally known as Sméagol, he was later named Gollum after his habit of making “a horrible swallowing noise in his throat”. Gollum was once a hobbit who became corrupted by the One Ring. His life was extended far beyond its natural limits by the effects of possessing the Ring, which he frequently referred to as “my precious” and “my birthday present”. After having it stolen by Bilbo Baggins, Gollum slavishly pursued it for the rest of his life.
During his centuries under the Ring’s influence, Gollum came to love and hate the Ring, just as he loved and hated himself. Throughout the story, Gollum is seen communing with his ego, torn between his lust for the Ring and his desire to be free of it.
This portrait was drawn with Staedtler pencils on Bristol Board in A3 size, then the hue was altered with Microsoft picture manager.
Gollum also has a t-shirt version which you can find HERE

This seams rather ‘dark’ to your usual colourful cuddly creatures Margaret, but never the less beautifully drawn. Its also quite effective on a t-shirt and should appeal to all those ‘potterites’ but I feel needs some sort of character caption on it to really set it off, don’t you think!
My original drawing was of a very tanned Gollum, until my daughter pointed out how wrong the colour was, which almost made made me name it ’Gollum’s gay twin brother’, but instead I decided to fiddle about with the blue filter on picture manager. For some reason I am unable to draw ugly scars, of which Gollum has hundreds. Consequently, this is nowhere near a perfect likeness. If you can suggest a suitable caption Gary after knowing all of that, I would be very grateful. Thank you for the thoughtful comment.

British politicians, American politicians, they all tell porkies. My head will be getting very big if you keep on saying such nice things, but thank you Walt.
