Pippa Haywood plays Joanna Clore from Green Wing by

Green Wing is a British sitcom set and filmed in a real hospital – East Hampton. Joanna Clore, played by Pippa Haywood ( of The Alan Partridge show, Prisoners’ Wives, etc.) is the director of human resources, 48 years old with a problematic love life. She has two sons working as doctors at the same hospital by two different fathers, who both discover during the series that she is their real mother, but not before one of them has already slept with her. She has an on/off relationship with Doctor Alan Statham (whom I plan to also draw alongside Joanna), played by Mark Heap (of Friday night dinner, Larkrise to Candleford, etc).
Alan and Joanna are pressurised into going on the run to hide from the police when a prank went very wrong. Joanna tried to scare Alan using her dwarf cousin, and Alan beat him to death with a stuffed heron. Joanna almost has a break down, which is probably encouraged by waking up in the bed of a teenage boy who had just turned sixteen the previous day. The pair take off in a stolen camper van, are forced into stealing food, and kill three more people whilst they escape the police. Joanna reverses the camper van into a mechanic, Alan sits on a shopkeepers face and suffocates her, and Joanna rubs peanut butter into the face of an arresting policeman with a nut allergy. Whilst Alan tries to fix the van so it runs on alcohol, the van explodes. Alan and Joanna then decide that as they do not wish to hand themselves in or move to Spain (because Alan dislikes the Spanish), they kill themselves by walking naked into the sea, although they are not seen drowning.

These storylines sound absurd, but they work very well are absolutely hilarious, though I do accept they are probably of a required taste, and I am not ashamed to say that I love Green Wing!!

Terrific stuff Margaret, even though I don’t know of her or her character, ‘the look’ come across extremely well, and that cigarette just makes me want to go and light up its so life like. Well done.

  • Oh heck, I don’’t want to encourage the return of bad habits Gary, but I’ve drawn so many cigarettes badly, i was due for a bit of luck this time. Thanks so much for the great comment.

  • Oo No!! A fag in the gob is not exactly the most feminine image in the world Lenny. Alan’s hair is done, the rest is to follow shortly. Thanks for the comment and the fave.
