Stephen K Amos is a much loved British stand-up comedian of Nigerian origin, who was recently given his own BBC comedy show broadcast on a Friday evening.
In one of his sketches, he plays a very flamboyant gay character called Tyrone, who is on the judging panel for one of those reality shows where they have to pick the next ‘Othello’.
His gay mannerisms are deliberately overdone to comedic effect, and I couldn’t resist taking a snapshot from the TV and drawing the picture myself in Prismacolour and Faber Castell pencils, with a purple ink background. Bristol Board extra smooth surface, 300 gsm, 16 inches x 12 inches. Entered into the coloured pencil challenge HERE

This is brilliant – like all your other paintings. I’ve just been buying a digital display screen from Asda (£24). When I get the hang of it I plan to use it to do drawings from.

  • That’s a great idea Dave. It’s about time we saw some more of your brilliant work! Hope the chooks are managing the freezing temperatures. My rabbit is sheltering in the garden shed.

Well done Margaret, being from down under I have no idea who he is but by the way you have drawn him I get the gist of his comedy. Love the purple ink background as it looks like a curtain on stage. You must tell me how you did the snapshot from your tele as I know I could use the technique. I think you should bring you rabbit inside!!

  • Thanks Gary. The ink is pretty hard to get off your fingers. I’m sending you an email at dinner time when my son is distracted from the computer!
