THAT WAS WHAT I SAID AND ASKED MYSELF, JUST OVER FOUR MONTHS AGO, WHEN I WAS ADVISED BY A FRIEND TO GO TO RB AND CHECK IT OUT.
I JUST STARTED ON DIGITAL, AND HAD NO CLUE, WHAT WAS IN STALL FOR ME!
I KNEW ONE THING… I LOVED PHOTOGRAPHY AND I WANTED TO KNOW MORE.
(AT THAT STAGE I WAS SIGNED UP WITH A PHOTOGRAPHERS WORKSHOP…… PREFER NOT TO GO INTO THAT OR TO MAKE IT PUBLIC!)
TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT: I JOINED RB!
I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT JOURNALS, GROUPS, and ACTIVITY ETC….
I MADE A FEW BOOBIES…. TRYING TO DO A YOURNAL ENTRY OR WHATEVER AND GET THIS “NOT ACCEPTED” FEEDBACK, MADE ME FEELING LIKE CRAWLING INTO THE FIRST HOLE I CAN GET~! WAS SO UNSURE OF MYSELF…. NO CONFIDENCE AT ALL!
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? THERE ARE FELLOW RB’S THAT UNDERSTOOD AND I JUST RECEIVED ALL THESE WONDERFUL HELPING AND FRIENDLY HANDS COMING OUT TO ME AND HELPING ME IN SO MANY WONDERFUL WAYS! PATIENTS…. IS NOT THE WORD! YOU KNOW NOTHING, THEY TRY AND HELP, IN THE END IT WAS LIKE FEEDING A BABY SPOON BY SPOON! THANK YOU “DEAR FRIENDS”….. THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE…. FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND HELP!
TODAY…. (SINCE I JOINED FEB, I THINK) AFTER A FEW WEEKS IN OUR “HIGH” BOW-HUNTING SEASON (THAT IS OUR WINTER SEASON IN AFRICA) THAT CLOSE BY END July, I STILL HAVE ALL MY WONDERFUL GUARDIAN ANGELS AT RB!

wonderful and well written mags, i know just how you feel, no one will make lots of money on this site, but what it does give it worth so much more, you know what we joined at the same time and this site has made all of us, all bubblers included (ARTISTS) that is the gold we are getting, dont ever worry about how little time you can spare, we are all like that too at times, just keep on posting your fabulous works if and when you can, as they are unique to you, dawn

Mags I too can thank everyone, ive yet to get to ur level only 145 pics and 7600 views, but this is a real compliment. I find it gives me the encouragement to carry on and the other wonderful images added by fellow friends gives me inspiration and ideas on what to do next. Im learning more about shutter speeds, exposures,iso’s etc than I knew to start with (which was nothing as I was completly new to the camera), not that i know and understand it now!!!! but im always learning and im not afraid to ask now.

What a lovely piece of writing! Mags your photos are wonderful especially for those of us unlikely to see firsthand the wildlife that you photograph. All you have written is so true. I was incredibly depressed after the death of my sister last Christmas but RB has given me such pleasure and companionship and something to look forward to each day. I’m not a photographer like you but I am learning just from seeing what other folk do and the encouragement given by others is so supportive and reassuring. Hugs XX Jacqi

I too joined in February – I nearly didn’t – it was a very big step for me uploading that first photo – I honestly thought that no-one would even look at it! How wrong I was and how very pleased I took that first step that brought me here – to a place filled with the most wonderful people sharing a love of all things beautiful.

Hello Mags, as you probably know I joined after I lost my son Peter and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My dear friends on RB, including yourself, have supported me through some really tough times and the beautiful comments I received to my poem and writings made me weep, they were so compassionate. The main thing now is that I have laughed since joining this wonderful site and love everything about it.
