THE WATERBUCK – Kobus ellipsiprymnus
This robust and well bult animal is found in small herds which are headed by a dominant bull.
Bachelor herds are sometimes seen. It is preyed upon by lion and takes to water readily when persued.
It is found in stony or rocky areas, quite often some distance from water.
Calves are commonly taken by leopard, chdetah and wild dogs.
Waterbuck exude a heavy terpentine scent.
The cow lacks horns.

GESTATION: About 240 days
Predominantly a grazer, they will however occasionally browse.
