HOODED VULTURE ~ Necrosyrles monachus – MONNIKAASVOEL

Fairly common, localised resident. A small slender-billed vulture. Adults have the white, downy feathers of the hind neck forming a hood over the head, plus white ruff, pants and legs. Immature is all-brown including downy head and neck, only face pink, the rare Egyptian Vulture immature also has a slender bill but differs in having a well feathered head. Occurs in small numbers in protected game areas.
